The paper pointed at an upstream concrete quarry as the source of the South Fork's sediment load at the confluence. The quarry may contribute, but Lake Georgetown dams the North Fork about 3.5 miles above the confluence and traps sediment, and the South Fork has no reservoir. The dam is a simpler explanation for the visible difference, and the original claim does not hold. See the post 'The Dam Above the Confluence' (September 1, 2026).
